Merry Christmas and Happy New Years from our Family to Yours
Merry Christmas!
It’s Christmas morning here (though I’m writing this the week before). We’re in our pj’s surrounded by wrapping paper and presents.
When I was growing up, the rule was you could open your stockings at any time of the night, but you had to wait till everyone was awake before the presents were opened. My siblings liked getting up early and I liked sleeping longer.
It worked great! I’ve carried this rule into our home as well. I no longer sleep as late as I did as a kid, but it does mean we can have a slightly slower morning.
This year is no different. I filled the kid’s stockings with treats and a few useful items. Arlen and I chose their presents together and I’m hoping they love them as much as we loved picking them.
Do you have any Christmas traditions?
We have a couple. On Christmas Eve, we go to a church service and then eat appetizers for supper. Then I let the kids open 1 present. That present is always their new pj’s. It doesn’t seem to matter how old the kids get, they still love getting new pj’s.
For the rest of the Christmas break, we take it easy. Family gatherings happen, projects start, and maybe some puzzles, but there is always lots of food and sleeping in.
I’ll leave you now and head back to the family. It’ll be time to think about breakfast soon.
In the middle of the hustle and bustle, we remember the real reason for Christmas. It is to celebrate the birth of Jesus. There is no present greater than that!
Merry Christmas, From our Family to Yours!
