Cooking Pot Roast doesn’t have to be complicated. I have a super easy recipe for cooking a moist and tender pot roast using your crock-pot. I love that my whole family loves it and that it cooks while I do other things through out the day. This is why I fall back on my Crock-pot Roast Recipe.
Basic Home Cooking
I’m not a fancy cook. Cooking isn’t my favourite task around the house. On the odd occasion I get excited and try something new, but for the most part we’re a basic meals kinda family. Thankfully my family is good with that. One thing that we love though, is Crock Pot Roast.
We have been known to buy 1/2 a cow from friends of ours and filled the freezer with enough beef to last us 6-12 months. When you get 1/2 a cow you have all these choices in your freezer. When I buy meat at the grocery store I tend to skip over the pricier cuts and only opt for ground beef.
Having a freezer full of choices makes for a much more creative cook! We are down to our last few cuts of beef and last week it was Roast.
My go to with Roast is garlic and black pepper. I love garlic, specifically fresh garlic. Fresh garlic can really take a dish from good to GREAT!
Drop in, season and walk away
What I love about crock-pot cooking is that I can dump in food, turn on and then walk away. I am that Mom that will realize it’s 5 o’clock and there is nothing thawed for supper. So I love that the crock-pot makes me look good!
In the morning I pulled out this roast from the freezer and set it into my crock-pot and turned it on low. This method works great right from frozen. I prefer to start my roasts no later than 9 am. This allows plenty of time for the roast to slowly cook on low from 9 am till 6 pm when we eat supper.

Notes
Wow your family
Halfway through the day you will start to smell the most wonderful aroma of the roast. It will be amazing! I served this with mashed potatoes and green peas. I chose to use the meat juice and make gravy, but you can also set the meat juice on the table for dipping.
