Are you looking for a new stand mixer? I’d love to tell you why I love my Bosch Mixer!
First off, I do want to say that this was a gift from Arlen’s Mom and Dad for our wedding in 2004. I also had no experience with this brand or any others prior to using this one. So my experiences are all based on 14 years of using this specific model.

Reasons to love a Bosch Mixer (pros)
This mixer is really powerful. It can handle a lot of work. When you are in the middle of processing all that garden bounty it just doesn’t run out of steam.
We have grated, sliced, chopped and mixed so many things.
It holds a lot of flour
Bread making is what I use this machine for the most. Over the last 6-7 years I have made bread almost every week.
The mixing bowl can easily hold 10 cups of flour. I have pushed it to 15 cups but prefer to keep it at the 10 cup amount since that more than enough dough for a weeks worth of bread for us.
Those 10 cups of flour make 4-6 loaves of bread depending on how big you like your loaves.
It comes with basic attachments
When you purchase a Bosch Mixer it comes with a mixing bowl, bread dough hooks and whisks. I rarely use the whisks, but if you were whipping cream or egg whites this is the way to go!
You also get the Bosch Blender with the basic package. I have since broke my blender and purchased a bottom grade ninja. We went ninja only because our budget at the time didn’t allow us to purchase the replacement blender.
I use the dough hook almost all the time. I use it for making cookies and for making bread.
There are numerous attachments you can buy from different paddles, whisks to stainless bowls. I have two accessories in addition to the basic package.
One of the first attachments I saved up for was the Bosch Universal Slicer and Shredder. It has a large capacity bowl and comes with 3 blades: grater (with 2 sizes), slicer (2 thicknesses) and French fry slicer. This comes in really handy when you need to grate multiple bricks of cheese or when it’s time to shred zucchini for making relish.
I was given the Bosch food processor bundle one year for Christmas and it also has 3 blades (2 graters and slicer) and the bottom mount processor blade. It is much smaller in capacity.
If I were to choose between the two, I would choose the large capacity bowl. For myself, I don’t use the bottom blade enough on the food processor. Instead I just use a blender.
Things you might not like (cons)
This machine is not a bottom entry level machine. It is pricey, but …. you get what you pay for. This machine is going to last you a very long time if you take care of it!
This is a vain issue. I love the look of the pretty Kitchenaid mixers and how shiny and colourful they are. The Bosch Mixer is a utilitarian machine. It’s big and bulky. I put mine away when it’s not in use, only since I don’t like how much room it takes on the counter.
There are a lot of pieces that need to be washed. I do use my dishwasher for it when using it for other things than bread dough. If you’re doing a small job like grating only 1 cup of cheese I won’t pull this machine out. I’d rather just wash a small grater.
Make sure to let the bread bowl dry in the upright position before putting it on the base. I have created a bit of a rust issue on mine where the gears turn the machine by setting on when it’s too wet.
Some pieces will break or get stuck
This might be just me, but I had trouble getting the blender apart to clean and it became a problem. One day I didn’t put it together right and ended blending up my gasket.
We also have little helpers in our kitchen and our mixer bowl lid has been dropped a number of times and it eventually cracked and broke. I haven’t had any issue using the bowl without the lid topper though. I could replace it, but it isn’t high on my priority list right now.
After serious use and constant wrapping of the cord, the end of my plug finally broke of the cord. That didn’t phase my husband, he and our son went out to the shop and got a replacement plug and rewired it.
So I encourage you not to wrap it quite as tight as I was doing and you should be just fine.
You should get this machine!
I’m not kidding when I say you should have this machine. It makes my life so much easier around the house. I’m not big into having a lot of extra appliances kicking around the house, but this is one machine that I will keep around forever. If/when it dies I will be saving up and replacing it. I love it that much!
***Edit: This machine has since died and my budget didn’t allow me to fix or replace it. We have since purchased a Kitchenaid Professional 600 Mixer. To read about this machine please go to this post. *****
